We  will be holding a set of clinics this Spring and Fall for the Juniors.

Dates for the Spring and Fall Clinics are in the Calendar and the online Registration system.

Details for online registration are below.

JUNIOR CLINICS

Beginner (Red Ball): Ages (5-8) 12 spots available

A fun way to introduce kids to the game of tennis. Participants will learn in a safe and fun environment through the games-based approach to learning while also working on the 5 basic FUNdamentals. Progressive nets, slower balls, appropriate sized racquets make it the right time to learn!

Novice (Orange Ball): Ages (7-10) 6 spots available

Players will build on the 5 fundamentals. This is the most important stage of progressive tennis development. Court size is from the service line with the potential to play from 3/4 court. Typically orange colour sized tennis balls will be used to rally and play games.

Intermediate (Green Dot Ball)- Ages (9-12) 6 spots available

Kids at this stage can typically rally over a net from the service line (half of a regular court). Players will now be challenged at a 3/4 court stage. They have an idea of how to hit the ball at the different stages of the court including the net. Players will learn through a variety of drills and games. Players will learn to compete while emphasizing good sportsmanship and fair play.

Advanced: Ages (11-16) 6 spots available

Players at this stage have an idea of all the shots in tennis and show they can play on a full court. A mixture of easy play and regular tennis balls will be used both as teaching.  Players should be able to rally and play from the 3/4 court line and will then move to the full court line based on the level of the group. Players will learn to compete in both singles and doubles. Many players in this group also play for Leaside’s junior teams or play outside the clinics as well for fun!

Competitive: Ages (12-17) 12 spots available

This program is offered at 5pm for one hour, twice a week on Tuesday at 5pm only. It is aimed at providing a structured environment for the more advanced players at LTC. The players in this program will have learned most of the fundamentals and aspire to learn how to play and compete. The focus will be to improve from a club level player to a OTA tournament level player in the future. The training may consist of both green dot and hard ball training. Each session day will focus on how to warm up effectively, improve technique and effectiveness, enhance physical/mental skills and learn how to be a good competitor. We encourage all competitive players from our junior teams to sign up as well as any current members who want a competitive environment to train. The groups will be based on physical/tennis skill, ability to listen and learn, and coaches discretion. The program will be led by the Head pro and other Toronto Tennis Academy coaches.

Exceptions and group placement may change based on age, skill level, athleticism, motor skills, ability to follow instructions, advancement over the course of classes, and the coach’s discretion.

Junior clinics are a great way to be active, to have fun and, most importantly, to take your skills to the next level. To ensure this, we are happy to have our dynamic team of coaches led by our Head Pro.

Please note the following:

  • These clinics are for Junior LTC members only
  • Each member may register for a maximum of one clinic per session. Registering for more than one spot will result in the forfeit of all spots. You must login and register separately for each Junior member (i.e., the registrant’s name must be accurate).
  • Members must register for the appropriate level of clinic. Registering for an inappropriate level of clinic will result in the forfeit of this spot.  If there is any doubt, please contact our head pro at headpro@leasidetennis.org
  • There is NO Waitlist option for clinics.  Payment must be made in full as we do NOT reserve spots.

Any questions about our junior clinics can addressed to the Head Pro at headpro@leasidetennis.org
